Gun control’s snaky sneak into omnibus

Lawmakers in the Republican-led Congress managed to sneak into the $1.3 trillion omnibus that's due for passage this week a measure that strengthens background checks on gun buyers. And what's worse -- what's the bigger 'diss to voters and the constitutional process -- is that the gun control provision is one and the same as a bill that previously stalled in Congress. Republicans’ $1.3 trillion ‘pass it to read it’ boondoggle

Republicans, following months of negotiations, finally came up with an omnibus spending bill, and in a word, it "sucks." It's 2,232 pages of $1.3 trillion taxpayer expenditures. And lawmakers only have until Friday to pass it, or face yet another shutdown. Published March 22, 2018

Gregory Salcido, anti-military teacher, fired — and good riddance

A teacher with the El Rancho Unified School District in Southern California named Gregory Salcido was fired after Board of Education members decided his anti-military comments caught on tape were so vicious that they -- as well as he -- didn't belong in the classroom. Uber notes ‘sad news’ of killing lady with driverless car

Uber, on the heels of learning one of its cars that was operating in driverless mode had mowed down a pedestrian and killed her, sent out a tweet that in essence said: Hey, we're thinking of ya. Privacy pitfalls of artificial intelligence-fueled health care hard to ignore

Bill Gates: ‘I don’t agree with the America first rhetoric’

Bill Gates, whose private fortune was planted and sown in the garden called Capitalism -- the particular brand of America's economy, dontcha know -- just came out swinging about President Donald Trump's "America first" mantra.
