Boxer George Foreman waved a small American flag after winning the gold medal in the 1968 Olympics. The gesture, which came in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement and protests over the Vietnam War, was criticized by some black leaders in the United States as a nod to what was considered to be the white-dominated establishment. Foreman said in an interview with the American Legion last year that his only regret about the incident was that "I didn't wave two."
