Christopher Steele
The ex-British spy wrote the infamous discredited dossier and tried to sell it all over Washington while expressing he was “desperate” to bring down the Trump candidacy.
In the 35-page dossier, Mr. Steele writes of an “extensive conspiracy” between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin to hack Democratic Party computers––a sweeping charge that remains unverified 20 months after he first briefed his allegations in D.C.
The London-based consultant forged secret alliances with the FBI, the Obama Justice Department, Fusion GPS, Hillary Clinton operatives, the Hillary Clinton campaign, an Obama State Department official and the Democratic Party.
His mission: Convince the mainstream media to report his dosser and the FBI to investigate Mr. Trump.
Concerning Mr. Steele’s assertion of a big Trump-Kremlin conspiracy: The New York Times wrote in February 2017 that the FBI owned a large number of intercepts and phone records to prove this. Then-FBI Director James Comey in June testified that almost the entire Times story––sourced to former Obama officials–– was false.
