The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) is a California state agency established pursuant to the California High-Speed Rail Act ([http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/95-96/bill/sen/sb_1401-1450/sb_1420_bill_960924_chaptered.html S.B. 1420], Chapter 796 of the California Statutes of 1996) to develop and implement high-speed intercity rail service, such as the California High-Speed Rail project.
The California High-Speed Rail project is a planned high-speed rail system in the state of California and headed by the California High-Speed Rail Authority, commonly referred to simply as the Authority. Initial funding for the project was approved by California voters on November 4, 2008, with the passage of Proposition 1A authorizing the issuance of US$9.95 billion in general obligation bonds for the project.
