D-Day at 80: Memories of Liberation

More than 150,000 U.S. and Allied troops were huddled inside rain-soaked camps scattered throughout southeast England on June 6, 1944, when Gen. Dwight Eisenhower’s voice suddenly crackled over the radio: “You are about to embark on the Great Crusade toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you.”

The Reagan Library remembers D-Day on 80th anniversary

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Thursday with a gathering of historians, military veterans, and politicians who will reflect on the enduring impact of Operation Overlord and the D-Day landings. Panelists will take a historical look at our world 80 years ago, and address the implications of President Reagan’s Peace through Strength policies on today’s world.

American veterans to be feted in France as part of 80th anniversary of D-Day

Hilbert Margol says he didn’t look on himself as a hero when his U.S. Army artillery unit fought its way across Europe during World War II. But he will be feted in France as one of 60 American veterans of that conflict traveling to Normandy to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
