Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States - The 40th President of the United States started off as a liberal Democrat.  He fought against Republican-sponsored right-to-work legislation, strongly supported Harry Truman in the 1948 election, and worked for Democratic candidates such as Helen Gahagan Douglas in California.  Reagan was twice elected as President of the Screen Actors Guild but later became a conservative and in 1962 switched to the Republican Party.  He went on to become Governor of California and one of the most influential Republicans to occupy the White House.
