MIAMI 17, FLORIDA STATE 16. In what would become known as "Wide Right I," Florida State kicker Gerry Thomas missed a 34-yard game-winning chip shot in the 1991 showdown of #1 vs. #2. A stunned Bobby Bowden was captured on television staring at the goalposts as Miami player stored the field. The Hurricanes would go on to win the national championship.
