Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign updated its website Monday to add policy positions.

The page, titled A New Way Forward, outlines 19 policy positions for Ms. Harris, including immigration, crime, the economy and supporting America’s service members.

The campaign published the policy statements 50 days after President Biden dropped out of the race and one day before Ms. Harris debates former President Donald Trump.

After each position, Ms. Harris contrasts her policy statements with policies she says are outlined in Project 2025, the set of conservative policy proposals by the Heritage Foundation.

Mr. Trump has distanced himself from Project 2025, even though many of his closest policy advisers were involved in drafting the 900-page book. Project 2025 was backed by a coalition of conservative groups but was never endorsed by the Trump campaign. Mr. Trump said in July that the Project 2025 “goes way too far.”

Most of the policies spelled out on the Harris website were previously announced by her campaign but the details remain vague.

For example, the section on the economy says Ms. Harris is committed to ensuring no one earning less than $400,000 will pay more in taxes, but it doesn’t explain how, given that she also proposes significantly increasing government spending on social projects. It simply says she will raise taxes on corporations and the wealthiest Americans.

The policy statement said Ms. Harris’ “lowering costs agenda is a stark contrast to Donald Trump’s plan to jack up prices, weaken the middle class, cut Social Security and Medicare, eliminate the Department of Education and preschool programs like Head Start and end the Affordable Care Act.” It does not detail a plan to bring down inflation beyond targeting “bad actors” by banning corporate price gouging.

In a section that is supposed to be about her proposals to “ensure safety and justice for all,” Ms. Harris slams Mr. Trump as a “convicted criminal who only cares about himself” and will “do nothing to address gun violence.” The section also alleges that Mr. Trump will “bring the Department of Justice and the FBI under his direct control.”

Ms. Harris does pledge to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, require universal background checks and support red flag law, according to the website.

On foreign policy, it said Ms. Harris is “a tireless and effective diplomat on the world stage” and will never hesitate to take whatever action is necessary to protect U.S. forces and interests from Iran and Iran-backed terrorist groups. Ms. Harris vows to “always stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself,” even though she skipped Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress earlier this year.

The campaign website also says Ms. Harris will support Supreme Court reforms, including requiring justices to comply with ethics and rules and imposing term limits.

In a statement to The Washington Times, Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt blasted Ms. Harris’ proposed policies.

Kamala Harris added a late-night, half-ass wish list of policies to her website to solve the problems she helped create over the past four years. If Kamala really wanted to lower costs and secure the border — why did she cast the tie-breaking vote to cause inflation and support the war on our energy industry, and why is she allowing an invasion of illegal immigrants through our southern border as we speak?” she said.

Mr. Trump released more than 20 policy positions on his campaign website several months ago.
