The Washington Commanders fired Vice President of Content Rael Enteen on Thursday after a secretly recorded video showed him making disparaging comments about the NFL, players and fans.
In the video published by O’Keefe Media, Enteen described NFL fans as “high school educated alcoholics” who were “violent.”
The executive went on to take shots at the league’s players, noting they were often homophobic.
“Over 50% of our roster is either White religious — and God says f—- the gays in their interpretation. I don’t buy into any of that, but that’s the facts,” Enteen said in the video, which was recorded in June. “Another big chunk is very low-income African American that comes from a community that is inherently very homophobic.”
Enteen then took oral shots at NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
“He’s a puppet. A $50 million puppet,” Enteen said of Goodell. “I don’t think the commissioner of the NFL hates gay people, hates Black people. So Jerry Jones, for instance, the owner who really runs the NFL, I think he hates gay people and Black people.”
The Commanders distanced themselves from Enteen as his comments spread on social media.
“The language used in the video runs counter to our values at the Commanders organization,” the team said in a statement.
