The Washington Commanders are one of the hottest teams in the National Football League — really.

A franchise that has been a punchline around the country for the better part of a decade due to bad ownership, bad draft picks, bad coaching and a myriad of scandals appears to have finally risen from the ashes.

Under new owner Josh Harris and new general manager Adam Peters, success has come unexpectedly right out of the gate in 2024 as first-year coach Dan Quinn and new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury have utilized No. 2 overall draft pick Jayden Daniels’ talents to a three-game winning streak and the top spot in the NFC East.

The former LSU Tiger is hitting targets at a historic clip. Daniels’ 82.1% completion percentage leads the league through four games and is the highest by any quarterback in NFL history thru their first four games.

Sports anchor Alex Flum from DC News Now joined The Washington Times’ District of Sports podcast to break down the reasons behind Washington’s surprising success, and if the Commanders can sustain it as the schedule gets tougher once the calendar turns to November.
