Ex-Florida Rep. David Jolly slammed former President Donald Trump for his Labor Day plans, nicknaming him “little Richie Rich.”

“I mean, I actually love this kind of holiday Labor Day setup that we’re looking at between Harris and Trump,” Mr. Jolly, who served as a Republican before leaving the party in 2018, said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House.”

“First the optics of Donald Trump sitting like little Richie Rich, or, I guess, old Richie Rich, at the golf club in Palm Beach that he owns, not just that he’s a member of, that he owns,” he said. “He’s sitting there by himself ringing his bell for Diet Coke. Vice President [Kamala] Harris is out there with raucous crowds of working-class voters across the country.”

Richie Rich is a fictional character from a comic book debuting in 1953 and becoming the title of a movie in 1994.

Ms. Harris was in Detroit and Pittsburgh Monday to speak to union members and was joined in Pennsylvania by President Biden.

She posted on X that on Labor Day “we honor workers, unions and the entire labor movement fighting for fair wages, good benefits and safer working conditions for all.”

“As president, I will always stand with workers, because when unions are strong, the middle class is strong. And when the middle class is strong, America is strong,” she wrote.

Mr. Trump was off the campaign trail after a busy two weeks of events. In a Truth Social post, he wished working Americans a happy Labor Day and went on to bash Ms. Harris.

“Under Comrade Kamala Harris, all Americans are suffering during this Holiday weekend — High Gas Prices, Transportation Costs are up, and Grocery Prices are through the roof. We can’t keep living under this weak and failed ‘Leadership,’” he wrote.

“We were an Economic Powerhouse, all because of the American Worker!” he said in a second post. “But Kamala and Biden have undone all of that. When I return to the White House, we will continue upon our Successes by creating an Environment that ensures ALL Workers, and Businesses, have the opportunity to prosper and achieve their American Dream.”

Trump national press secretary Karoline Leavitt bashed Ms. Harris for “campaigning with her partner-in-crime Joe Biden desperately trying to gaslight the American people.

“Meanwhile, this Labor Day the American people are working harder than ever to afford gas, groceries and rent because Kamala Harris broke our economy and is proud of it.”
