Authorities on Tuesday arrested the son of the would-be assassin of former President Donald Trump after prosecutors said they found child pornography on the adult son’s personal devices.

A complaint filed in a North Carolina federal court said Oran Routh is facing criminal charges after investigators found “hundreds” of files on two phones that were in his home.

One of the phones had videos that authorities believe was a man with a girl under 10 years old, according to court documents.

Prosecutors said another phone had videos of a girl no older than age 8 with a woman.

“These files include videos from a known child pornography series created outside the state of North Carolina,” according to the filing. “Videos from the series depict minors engaged in sex acts.”

The charges were filed Monday after officials said Mr. Routh’s home was searched in connection to an “unrelated” case.

Mr. Routh’s father, Ryan Routh, was arrested last week after officials said he planned to kill the former president while Mr. Trump was playing golf in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Police said the Secret Service was securing the hole ahead of Mr. Trump on Sept. 15 when an agent spotted a gun poking out of the bushes.

The agent opened fire, and a man ran out of the brush. Police said Routh, 58, was arrested driving on Interstate 95 in neighboring Martin County.

The suspect was not hit by the agent’s gunfire.

Routh, who has previous convictions on weapons and theft charges, was charged with felon in possession of a firearm and for having a gun with a scratched-out serial number in the suspected Trump assassination.

Prosecutors said Monday that Routh wrote a letter months ago about his plans to assassinate the former president, who is now the Republican party’s candidate in the presidential election.

Routh and his son were both kept behind bars Tuesday.
