By perpetuating dangerous lies and misinformation about pro-life laws and downplaying the risks of abortion drugs, politicians like Kamala Harris and news organizations like ProPublica are gaslighting a death racket for women across the country.

Whether a woman lives in a pro-life state does not prevent her from receiving life-saving care, or medical care for complications resulting from an abortion. In fact, no law, in any state, prevents a hospital from treating a pregnant woman in a medical emergency. Every pro-life law in the country protects the lives of women in an emergency. Georgia is no exception.

Georgia law allowed Candi Miller to seek the care that she needed and deserved following medical complications from a chemical abortion. The state’s laws also allowed doctors to intervene to save Amber Thurman’s life by performing a dilation and curettage (D&C) procedure for a sepsis infection resulting from abortion drugs.

The fact that neither of these women received the care they so desperately needed is heartbreaking and underscores how deadly the Left’s scare tactics have become for women.

Misinformation about commonsense state laws scares women and prevents them from seeking medical help. At the same time, these falsehoods hamper the ability of doctors to provide legal, life-saving care.

The American Association of Pro-Life OBGYNs (AAPLOG) reviewed the publicly available information surrounding Amber Thurman’s death, concluding that doctors could have intervened to save her life. Instead, it took approximately 20 hours for doctors to perform a D&C, despite the procedure being recognized as the standard of care. The head of AAPLOG, board-certified OBGYN Dr. Christina Francis, further stated: “Amber Thurman’s tragic death, recently covered by multiple news organizations, was caused by side effects of legal abortion drugs and medical negligence, not pro-life laws.”

States with more permissive abortion laws provide additional proof that it is not pro-life laws that pose true harm to women. Nevada has few limits on abortion, yet even there, 24-year-old Alyona Dixon tragically died from sepsis less than a week after a drug-induced abortion at Planned Parenthood.

If Kamala Harris and the abortion industry insist on spreading lies, women’s lives will continue to be at risk.

Ms. Harris, the media and the abortion industry owe it to Amber Thurman, Candi Miller and all the other female victims of the abortion pill to tell the truth about the life-saving care available in pro-life states while also addressing the common factor in both of their deaths: high-risk abortion drugs.

The dangers of abortion drugs are very real, yet they are often downplayed or ignored in favor of further deregulation and limited oversight. The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has almost completely deregulated abortion drugs, despite known complications and risks. The FDA’s own label for these drugs states that roughly 1 in 25 women who take them will end up in the emergency room for serious and sometimes life-threatening complications, including severe bleeding and infection. There’s even a “black box” warning alerting doctors specifically to the risk of sepsis.

Despite this substantial risk, Democrat administrations including President Joe Biden and Ms. Harris have eliminated nearly every reasonable health and safety guardrail around abortion drugs, leaving women like Amber Thurman and Candi Miller alone and without medical supervision while they are forced to manage their own abortions and monitor for serious and potentially deadly complications. By the time women realize they are experiencing a complication from the abortion drugs, it may already pose a serious risk to their health or could even be too late.

Women need to know the dangers of abortion drugs and understand the care that is available to them in the event of an emergency.

Kamala Harris had an opportunity in Georgia to correct the record on pro-life laws and stop the deadly flow of misinformation to women. Instead, she seized the opportunity to further fearmonger and in the process score political points by blaming Donald Trump. Her visit to the battleground state for a political rally underscored her true intentions.

Ms. Harris and her fellow Democrats, the media, and the abortion lobby owe it to women like Amber Thurman and Candi Miller to end the lies and distortions and start telling the truth.
