Former President Donald Trump thanked all of the law enforcement that responded to an apparent second assassination attempt against him at his golf course.

“I would like to thank everyone for your concern and well wishes — It was certainly an interesting day!” he posted late Sunday on Truth Social.

“Most importantly, I want to thank the U.S. Secret Service, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and his Office of brave and dedicated Patriots, and, all of Law Enforcement, for the incredible job done today at Trump International in keeping me, as the 45th President of the United States, and the Republican Nominee in the upcoming Presidential Election, SAFE,” he posted.

“The job done was absolutely outstanding. I am very proud to be an American!” he wrote in all caps.

The FBI labeled the Sunday afternoon incident as another apparent assassination attempt. Secret Service agents spotted an AK-47-style rifle with a scope pointed onto the golf course where Mr. Trump was playing in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Secret Service agents shot at the suspect, who was later identified by sources as Ryan Wesley Routh. The suspect dropped the weapon and fled in a vehicle but was later apprehended. Two backpacks, the weapon and a GoPro camera were found on the fence outside of the Trump International Golf Club.

Mr. Trump said in a fundraising email after the incident that he was “safe and well.”

“Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me,” Mr. Trump’s email said.

This assassination attempt comes roughly two months after a shooter in Butler County, Pennsylvania, targeted the former president. At that rally, the bullet grazed Mr. Trump’s ear and left one attendee dead and two others wounded.
