Pop star Taylor Swift set social media ablaze when she endorsed Kamala Harris for president after Tuesday’s debate. Now comes former race car driver Danica Patrick cautioning fans about placing their trust in the 14-time Grammy winner.

Patrick claimed that Ms. Swift’s endorsement was carefully considered to maximize her influence, not a reflection of the debate.

“There’s no way that long post was ready right after the debate,” Ms. Patrick, 42, wrote on Instagram. “I have been on the other side, that was probably written and revised by a team over the last week. AKA. A plan.”

The former athlete and model piled on the criticism by reposting a video in favor of former President Donald Trump.

“Dear Swifities voting for Kamala just because Taylor endorsed her,” the text on the video read. “May I remind you that 90% of her hit songs are about choosing the wrong person.”

Ms. Patrick, who raced in the IndyCar and NASCAR series until her retirement in 2018, has routinely expressed her support for conservative causes. After the Harris-Donald Trump face-off, she shared several social media posts that claimed the event was slanted in favor of Democrats.
