Many people wonder if the United States is ever mentioned in the Bible.

A prophecy, found in a little-known book from the Apocrypha, reveals that the United States of America, whose national symbol is the eagle, is the fourth beast described in the vision given to the Prophet Daniel.

In doing research for my first book on Daniel’s prophecies I discovered the following substantiation from the book of 2 Esdras, which shows why America is the fourth beast in Daniel 7:

…I had a dream I saw rising from the sea an eagle … I saw it spread its wings over the whole earth … and it reigned over the earth and over those who inhabit it … allthings under heaven were subjected to it, and no one spoke against it – not a single creature … on the earth. – 2 Esdras 11:1, 2, 5, 6, NRSV

He said to me, “This is the interpretation of this vision that you have seen: the eagle that you saw coming up from the sea is the fourth kingdom that appeared in a vision to your brother Daniel. – 2 Esdras 12:10-11, NRSV

Daniel’s Prophecies Unsealedwas our first book on Daniel where we describe how the first two beasts in Daniel 7, have already appeared with the lion (England) and the bear (Russia). The third beast is described as a leopard and we believe that it is about to make its entrance on the world scene. This third beast will be comprised of the five nations listed in Psalm 83: Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Saudia Arabia. Interestingly, the two other people groups that are included in Psalm 83 are Philistia (Gaza) and Tyre (Lebanon).

This Psalm tells us the purpose of their conspiracy against Israel:

They have said, Come and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more. For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You… – Psalm 83:4-5, NKJV (emphasis added)

The Oct.7, 2023 attack by Hamas on Israel is most likely a precursor to what they are planning to remove Israel from the map. If our analysis of the hidden prophecy in 2 Esdras is correct, we will probably witness the fulfillment of Daniel’s prophecy very soon.

This means that some major crises may occur in the Middle East, which will then force Daniel’s third beast to arise and be given dominion. The forming of this Arab coalition could then be the catalyst for the final fourth beast (the United States) along with the Antichrist, to also appear.

Those familiar with my book,The Final Countdown,” know that I believe the Antichrist may make an appearance very soon. This view is predicated on the belief that God foreknew and ordained a Second Fulfillment to the prophecy regarding the Seventy Weeks of Daniel. This brand new understanding is based upon Dr. Christian Widener’s discovery that the Second Fulfillment of Daniel’s prophecy may have begun with Sultan Suleiman’s decrees between 1537 to 1541 to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Moving forward 70 weeks (490 years) brings us to the Second Coming of Christ somewhere between 2027 to 2031. If this interpretation is correct, it would mean that the final three and a half years of Great Tribulation would need to begin sometime in the immediate future.

Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place… For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been seen since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. – Matthew 24:15, 21, NKJV (emphasis added)

The appearance of the Antichrist on the Temple Mount will be the start of the final three and a half years of the Great Tribulation before Jesus returns at His Second Coming. Now is the time to prepare ourselves and to help others prepare. Jesus does provide a way of escape for those blameless believers (2 Peter 3:14) who are earnestly praying as He taught us to pray:

Watch ye, therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. – Luke 21:36, KJ (emphasis added)

Stay tuned, our next article will go into a little more detail on why we believe the Apocrypha should not have been removed from our Bibles in 1885.

Prophecy Countdown began in the 1990s to help keep the Bride of Christ alert to signs of the time as we await the return of our Bridegroom. Since retiring from a career in public accounting and financial management Jim Harman has devoted his life to studying the Scripture and writing as the Lord leads. His passion is to help believers come to know the joy of Christ’s triumph in their lives and become true overcomers qualified and ready to rule and reign with Jesus Christ.
