OPINION:
I congratulate Israel on its very strong and successful military response to Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran (“Israeli airstrikes rock southern suburbs of Beirut and cut off a key crossing into Syria,” web, Oct. 4).
I remember when Israel would not be pushed around. Over the years, it has stopped fighting to win and instead begun conducting diplomacy and going on the defensive rather than the offensive. This has been mainly at the request of the U.S. — particularly Democratic administrations — and the United Nations. Our military is supposed to fight to win, not use the word “don’t” when dealing with our enemies. Why are the Democrats protecting Iran instead of Israel?
I fully support Israel in its destruction of Iran’s leadership and all the terrorists Iran supports. Most of the Arab countries want Israel to be successful. The U.S. must work with Israel to destroy all terror activities, along with all nuclear bomb research sites. We need peace in the Middle East, and the only way is to stop Iran.
I encourage Israel’s leadership to continue to kill the evil threatening it and its people so that its citizens can return to their homes and we can finally get all of the hostages taken by Hamas a year ago. Peace through strength is the only solution.
