Former President Donald Trump wants $10 billion from CBS, accusing the network in a lawsuit of trying to tip the presidential election to Democrat Kamala Harris.
According to Fox News, the lawsuit filed Thursday said the network deceptively edited its “60 Minutes” interview with the vice president in order to harm Mr. Trump.
Mr. Trump’s legal team accused CBS of “partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference through malicious, deceptive, and substantial news distortion calculated to confuse, deceive, and mislead the public.”
The former president’s attorneys already had asked CBS News to release the full transcript of the “60 Minutes” interview over concerns about how the network aired two different answers to the same question, using one that was widely seen as making Ms. Harris look bad in promotional materials, but one that made her look better in the actual show.
In the lawsuit, filed less than one week before the election, Mr. Trump’s lawyers tell CBS, as is standard in lawsuits, that it must preserve all documents and communications related to the subject of the lawsuit — here the Harris interview.
“President Trump brings this action to redress the immense harm caused to him, to his campaign, and to tens of millions of citizens in Texas and across America by CBS’s deceptive broadcasting conduct,” the lawsuit states.
CBS News had no immediate reply to a Fox News request for comment.
