Tesla issued a recall Thursday on nearly 30,000 Cybertrucks over an issue with the rear camera.
Some Cybertruck systems will not complete shutdown orders before starting a boot-up process, leading to a delay in displaying the reverse camera image, according to the recall notice.
Tesla said the rear camera image may not appear for several seconds after the car is shifted into reverse in some cases, significantly increasing the chances of a collision.
Tesla said in a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it identified the issue last month and will roll out a software update to affected Cybertrucks this week.
Thursday’s recall is one of the largest for the futuristic truck, affecting most Cybertrucks on the road. It is the third large-scale Cybertruck recall this year after the company issued recalls to fix loose accelerator pedals in April and windshield wiper issues in June.
While Tesla has not made production numbers for the Cybertruck popular, it is one of the most popular electric trucks today. The Cybertruck beat Ford’s F-150 Lightning in Q2 to become the best-selling EV truck.
