Can someone remind me, which of our prominent American leaders famously said, “Forget religious liberty, forget life, just give me abortion?” Well, it certainly wasn’t Patrick Henry.

Although that is not a direct quote, that was the substance of what Kamala Harris said this week during her interview on NBC. A reporter asked her directly how she would moderate on abortion, and what exceptions or concessions she would make with Republicans to pass a federal abortion law.

And her response was chilling.

“What concessions would be on the table? Religious exemptions?” The reporter asked.

Vice President Kamala Harris shot back, “I don’t think that we should be making concessions when we’re talking about a fundamental freedom to make decisions about your own body…and that cannot be negotiable.”

For those of us who follow Ms. Harris’ record on abortion (or where her running mate Tim Walz stands on the subject), this isn’t surprising. We know what she is after. And we know it because she has already co-sponsored the legislation in Congress for it through the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act.” She’s told us what she wants through her actions. She’s just being covert about it now because she’s trying to gain the independent vote and become president.

But every now and again, like in this NBC interview, you get to see the curtain pulled back and her true intentions come forward in her answers.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Ms. Harris’ proposed abortion legislation went even further than Roe v. Wade: “Democrats demanded a far more expansive bill…which included a provision exempting the law from the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.”

Even the NBC reporter had apparently done her homework. That is why she asked what Kamala Harris would do to tone down her no-limits federal abortion-on-demand plan. Because she would need to pick off more liberal-leaning Republicans to help her pass it through Congress. Typically, the senators that Democrats look to are Sen. Collins of Maine and Sen. Murkowski of Alaska.

But they both have already opposed Kamala’s extreme plan and have been vocal about it, with Sen. Murkowski saying, “I have long supported a woman’s right to choose, but my position is not without limits, and this partisan Women’s Health Protection Act simply goes too far … It would broadly supersede state laws and infringe on Americans’ religious freedoms.”

Even Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin spoke out and said it was “too broad” and “goes too far.”

When Kamala Harris tells us who she is, we should listen. And, in this case, when she puts forward actual legislation of what she would do, then we need to believe her.

One of the biggest lies that Team Harris and abortion advocates have told us in the past about their position is that if you don’t like abortion, then you don’t have to participate in it.

Well, that is categorically false.

Vice President Harris, who is a breath away from being president of this country, has repeatedly told us through action and word that we will all, in some way, be participating in the act of abortion … whether we like it or not and whether we morally object to it or not.

Her stated goal is to federally force us to participate in the act of abortion. She wants medical staff to perform it, taxpayers to fund it, and parents to have no say in it.

This is why pro-abortion legislation is so destructive. First and foremost, it forces us to completely devalue and ignore the right to life for the child in the womb. But these demands rarely stop there. It’s also so destructive because it forces people of faith to violate their convictions, it forces taxpayers against their will to fund it and it forces the general public to stay ignorant about the scientific facts of life.

Kamala Harris told us she does not believe in the right to life for babies in the womb. So why are we surprised when she tells us that she also does not believe in the right to freedom of religion or conscience regarding abortion?

There are 41 million Christians who are projected not to vote in this election. I hope that every single one of them gets the opportunity to hear Ms. Harris’ recent statements declaring that she will remove religious and moral exemptions to abortion.

It was Kamala Harris, during her recent speech on the Declaration of Independence, who refused to include one’s right to life. I hope that these millions of potential Christian voters recall the rights of all Americans, and when doing so, unlike her, do not erase the right to life.
