Halloween is just days away, but the masks have already come off for the Democratic Party with its lawsuit against Virginia for wanting to remove noncitizens from state voting rolls (“Biden administration sues Virginia over attempt to remove noncitizens from voter rolls,” web, Oct. 11).

But the tricks actually started back when President Biden first took office — and immediately opened up our borders while maintaining the charade through the years that he did otherwise.

Mr. Biden threw open the doors to illegal immigration knowing he could count on a compliant media to ignore or provide cover for what now is an obvious and ongoing lie about the security of our homeland.

With millions being waved in, the second trick by Mr. Biden was to create a new dependent class by getting the new arrivals hooked on free phones, housing, food and medical care. While temporary support may be justified and even necessary for people who arrive here legally, passing out free stuff to millions who are here illegally is bound to stretch or even break our social safety net and have long-lasting consequences for Americans. (Just consider the plight of citizens recently affected by hurricanes and flooding.)

Trick three for the Democrats was to enact laws in various states that automatically register people to vote when they obtain a driver’s license. Democrats pulled this trick off while at the same time opposing all efforts aimed at ensuring the integrity of the ballot box, including showing proof of citizenship or requiring an ID to vote.

Democrats want us to believe that in a culture rife with corruption, the voting booth is the last area untainted by the rot that is everywhere else. Please.

And the final trick in the Democrats’ desire to fundamentally transform America is to gaslight and cancel anyone who understands and calls them out for what they are doing.

The threat to democracy comes not from those who recognize and warn others of their game plan, but from the party that refuses to secure the border while making it easy for noncitizens to vote.
