Former President Donald Trump stopped by a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania on Sunday to get a lesson on how the chain cooks up their french fries and to take some shots at Vice President Kamala Harris’ resume.

“I’m going for a job right now at McDonald’s,” Mr. Trump told reporters after arriving in Pennsylvania. “I’ve really wanted to do this all my life and now I’m going to do it because she didn’t do it.”

The former president, donning a McDonald’s apron, learned how to work the french fry stations, including putting the fries in the oil, salting them, and putting them in boxes at the McDonald’s in Feasterville, Pennsylvania. After, he handed them out to customers through the drive-through window.

“This is not a normal situation is it?” he joked to one family.

He told reporters outside the drive-through window that he probably appreciates McDonald’s more now.

“I do appreciate it a little more. You say, ‘Give me french fries.’ I’ll never forget this experience,” he said. “Now I know how to do it.”

Franchise holder Derek Giacomantonio said in a statement that he invited Mr. Trump to his McDonald’s because “it is a fundamental value of my organization that we proudly open our doors to everyone who visits the Feasterville community.”

“I accepted former President Trump’s request to observe the transformative working experience that 1 in 8 Americans have had: a job at McDonald’s,” he added.

Whether Ms. Harris was among them came up Sunday.

The Democratic presidential nominee has said she worked at a McDonald’s while in college at Howard University in Washington.

“Part of the reason I even talk about having worked at McDonald’s is because there are people who work at McDonald’s in our country who are trying to raise a family,” Ms. Harris said on MSNBC last month. “I worked there as a student.”

However, Mr. Trump and other Republicans have claimed that she’s lying.

No employment or other records confirm Ms. Harris’ claim, and no co-workers have come forward publicly with memories of having worked with the future vice president. One family friend, Wanda Kagan, told the New York Times in a contemporary interview that she remembers Ms. Harris working there.

Mr. Trump said Sunday that he’s now worked “for 15 minutes more than Kamala.”

Harris campaign spokesman Ian Sams said Sunday that, “when Trump feels desperate, all he knows how to do is lie.”

“He can’t understand what it’s like to have a summer job because he was handed millions on a silver platter, only to blow it,” Mr. Sams said.

Jason Miller, senior campaign adviser for Mr. Trump, told reporters Saturday that the former president was stopping at the chain to show that he “connects with hard-working Americans.”

The two candidates are trying hard to appeal to everyday Americans in swing states as the Nov. 5 election is just days away.
