Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt says he supports kicker Harrison Butker’s political activism on behalf of conservative causes.
“One of the things I talk to the players every year about at training camp is using their platform to make a difference,” Hunt said. “We have players on both sides of the political spectrum, both sides of whatever controversial issue you want to bring up. I’m not at all concerned when our players use their platform to make a difference.”
Butker announced he is forming a “traditional values” political action committee, the UPRIGHT PAC, on social media on Saturday while his team enjoyed a bye week.
The committee will “promote and encourage Christian voters to vote, so that their voices are heard this November,” he wrote on X.
Butker, 29, has embraced his time in the spotlight since his viral commencement speech at the Catholic Benedictine College in May. The kicker urged women to consider a path as a homemaker instead of a career and warned about “dangerous gender ideologies.”
“There’s things that I believe wholeheartedly that I think will make this world a better place, and I’m going to preach that,” he said at this summer’s training camp. “If people don’t agree, they don’t agree, but I’m going to continue to say what I believe to be true and love everyone along the way.”
