It ain’t easy being a WNBA superstar. After a fantastic rookie season, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese on Wednesday said her game checks won’t cover her $8,000 monthly rent.

In an Instagram Live video, the LSU product shared some financial insight with her 4 million followers.

“I just hope you know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think that pays one of my bills,” she said. “Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent for where I stay at. Let me do the math real quick.”

The 22-year-old’s four-year rookie contract paid her $73,439 in 2024, according to Spotrac’s experts. That salary will grow to more than $93,000 in 2027.

Meanwhile, Reese says her rent costs $96,000 per year.

“I’m living beyond my means,” she said in the video.

Reese, who led the league in rebounds before a wrist injury ended her season, earns most of her money from endorsements. The Baltimore County native started signing deals at LSU and carried many into the pros, including partnerships with Beats, Airbnb, Amazon, PlayStation and Reebok.

During her final college season, analysts with On3.com estimated that Reese’s sponsorships were worth $1.8 million.

“That WNBA check don’t pay a thing. Did that even pay my car note?” she said. “I wouldn’t even be able to eat a sandwich with that. I wouldn’t even be able to eat. I wouldn’t be able to live.”
