Why do people appear so shocked by Vice President Kamala Harris’ conduct? It is consistent for her. Once she was confirmed as the Democratic nominee, she went to the border and used the photo-op tactic, hoping to convince the American people that 20 minutes of posing for cameras would erase 3½ years of neglect and endangerment.

When Hurricane Helene was pounding the life out of the Southern states, Ms. Harris was in California attending fundraisers. After that, she headed to Pennsylvania.

However, someone apparently let her know that it was bad form to campaign while people were dying and missing in triple figures — so she headed south for more photo-ops.

Her third tactic is the telephone call, sometimes accompanied by yet more photo-ops. She phoned Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and then referred to him as “political and selfish” when he reportedly refused to take her calls. Clearly, Mr. DeSantis was doing the job he was elected to do and did not have time for politics. If that is selfish and political, we need more public officials to follow his lead.

Ms. Harris’ last tactic is her meandering, tasteless word salads and nonresponsive answers. To paraphrase former President Donald Trump’s response to the rambling statement made by President Biden during their debate: We don’t know what she is talking about, and we don’t think she knows, either.
