OPINION:
Roughly 104 million people of faith, including 41 million Christians, say they’re not going to vote this November.
That’s not just a dereliction of patriotic and biblical duties. It’s an open door to demonic forces to steal away this nation’s government.
How can America stay free and on a path to virtuous culture and governance if those who best understand true liberty and who most strive for virtue, both personally and in the public domain, just throw their hands in the air, a la we don’t care, and let the secular side have their way?
This can’t be quoted enough — from John Adams, in a letter to the Massachusetts militia, in October of 1798: “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
It’s only those of faith who understand the concept of the Declaration of Independence — America’s basic theme; America’s mode of operandi — that goes, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness; that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among Men …”
Liberties come from God.
Individual rights come from God.
Government only exists to serve the God-given interests of the people, and to protect the rights and liberties awarded each individual at birth.
Take away God and what remains is a void that is quickly filled by the power-hungry; the control seekers; the lustful quests of the human heart.
It’s only those who understand their purposes on earth are to glorify God who can truly understand what it means to live a life of humility and purpose and service — without the chains of government bureaucrats forcing them to serve. In other words, God gave free will to His creations with hope His creations would turn back to Him and live — free and freely — according to His words and His purposes, which are penned in the Bible, and which are intended only for good.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope,” as Jeremiah 29:11 states.
Those who understand that biblical truth and live with full expectation that it’s a promise from God don’t need government to provide for them. They don’t need bureaucrats to tell them how to behave. They don’t need burdensome laws and regulatory controls to reel in their fleshly impulses — because they know God is always watching, always recording and always, always, always providing the best.
It’s only the thugs and criminals and wicked who need heavy police and law enforcement and societal oversight.
Virtuous and godly people are capable of self-governance because they know their overseers are not of this world.
So when Christians don’t vote, they’re ceding this world — this country — this government — to the most base-minded of humanity.
“It’s alarming that 41 million Christians are choosing not to vote this election,” said Walker Wildmon, CEO of American Family Association Action, in a written release.
That’s an understatement.
The reason America is facing such perilous Marxist, culturally degraded and corrupt times is Christians have stepped back from culture and government, silenced their voices and said self-righteously to themselves, ‘Well, I’m commanded to live in this world, not of this world, so I’ll just sit out the elections and go to church on Sunday — my family’s safe; my soul’s good.’
Talk about selfish.
Talk about self-serving.
God didn’t give us America so that His people could sit back and watch their 401(k) plans grow, allowing them to buy big houses and save for their retirement days on a beach in Florida. Good men and women shed their blood for this nation, suffered horrible conditions to fight for freedom and liberty and justice and a society where individuals mattered more than the collective — and they did it with the belief they were doing it for the betterment of humanity; for the betterment of the coming generations; for causes that were greater than their own.
And now Christians don’t want to vote because they don’t like the candidates. Christian conservatives don’t want to vote because they think Donald Trump is mean.
Get over it, cupcake. Get to the ballot boxes and vote.
The president is not God, and the election is not for a spiritual leader.
And the vote isn’t just about choosing the next leader of the free world. It’s about honoring the sacrifices of those who gave us the free world in the first place — and yes, that includes God, right at the top of the list.
