The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after an individual reportedly placed screws in the road near a ballot box in the 1300 block of 5th Street NE in the District of Columbia on Tuesday.

Private security personnel in the area alerted the MPD at 2 p.m. The department said in a post on social media that it was looking into the incident and added later that it was monitoring other polling places and ballot drop boxes in D.C.

Voters also reported finding nails, according to NBC affiliate WRC-TV.

D.C. police along with the U.S. Secret Service and university personnel provided security for the watch party held in support of Vice President Kamala Harris at her alma mater, Howard University.

Ms. Harris won D.C.’s three electoral votes handily versus Donald Trump.

Ms. Harris didn’t end up speaking at the watch party. Her campaign co-chairman, Cedric Richmond, told the remaining crowd at around 1 a.m. Wednesday to go home and that Ms. Harris would return to Howard University to address her supporters and America later that day.
