Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family
Focus on the Family is encouraged by Tuesday’s election results – a decisive electoral and popular vote triumph for President-elect Trump – but not because of any partisan cheerleading on our part.
Instead, the outcome confirms that American families are hungry to live in a nation where they can raise their children in an environment that is physically safe, and economically viable, and where moms and dads and kids can unapologetically worship God. They believe parents – not politicians – have the authority to guide and direct their children’s education. They believe their daughters shouldn’t have to fear boys in their locker room – or face off against them in a woman’s sporting event. They’re fed up with politicians making common sense complex in an effort to confuse and advance an anti-family agenda.
Scripture commands Christians to pray for “all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness (1 Timothy 2:2), and so we must lift up the former and future president, as well as President Biden and Vice President Harris – and all those who are guiding and leading our nation.
The 10 states with divided abortion initiative results reflect uneven sentiment regarding the sanctity of life in America. We celebrate pro-life wins in Florida, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Special thanks and congratulations to Gov. Ron DeSantis who boldly, courageously, and successfully campaigned to defeat the Florida abortion initiative. He demonstrated strong and confident leadership in the face of angry and well-funded opposition. Gov. DeSantis modeled the way to advocate for a principled position by leaning into the issue and not slinking away from it.
Governors who embraced the fight for life delivered victories for children and their mothers. Those who hid from the issue saw defeat.
In Florida, babies will now live as abortion remains illegal after a heartbeat can be detected.
The tragic passage of abortion laws in seven other states reflects the important work we have in the pro-life movement to make abortion unthinkable. We now press ahead to persuade more people in every state that it’s a baby in the womb deserving of love and protection! As the apostle Paul commanded, “Let us not grow weary in well-doing.”

After winning the presidency, Donald Trump made this statement: “‘God spared my life for a reason — to save our country and restore America to greatness.”
I believe this is true. America needs restoration. President Trump could have died so easily in the assassination attempts on his life, but God did indeed spare him. When President Ronald Reagan was shot early in his presidency, he too felt God had spared his life. The night Reagan returned to the White House he confided in his diary, “Whatever happens now I owe my life to God and will serve Him every way I can.”
Ronald Reagan went on have one of the greatest presidencies in American history.
Let’s pray now for President Trump that he will be surrounded by godly and competent people who will give him good counsel in the days ahead. God bless President Trump and God bless the United States of America!

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” – 1 Timothy 2:1-2

At the end of the day, the number one… pic.twitter.com/N6Q9aC3Z7U
At the end of the day, the number one battle in America is not between the donkey and the elephant. It is between the serpent and the Lamb. It is between hatred and love, lies and truth, the pathetic and the prophetic.
We want this nation to be governed by principles undergirded by our Judeo-Christian values. We’re not seeking a theocracy—that can only happen when Jesus returns. What we do seek is a nation that lifts up values and virtues that remind us to see each other as those created in the image of God.
This is a call for reconciliation, for unity, and for all of us to work together to address the real issues facing us—not just for today, but for the sake of our children and our children’s children. Let’s join hands, rise above the division, and build a nation where truth and love prevail.
