Russian President Vladimir Putin says he does not think President-elect Donald Trump is safe.
Mr. Putin was speaking to reporters in Kazakhstan, according to Reuters. He expressed shock over how the U.S. presidential election unfolded earlier this month. and said Mr. Trump and his family were treated in a “revolting” way by political opponents.
Mr. Trump faced an assassination attempt in July when a man shot him at a Pennsylvania rally, grazing his ear. Another man was arrested in September on suspicion of planning an assassination attempt against Mr. Trump in Florida along his golf course.
Mr. Putin described Mr. Trump’s political opponents’ tactics to the reporters as “the absolutely uncivilized methods used to battle against Trump, up to and including an assassination attempt — and more than once.”
“By the way, in my opinion, he is not safe now,” Mr. Putin said. “Unfortunately, in the history of the United States, various incidents have happened. I think he [Mr. Trump] is intelligent and I hope he’s cautious and understands this.”
