OPINION:
The fever has broken.
Trump Derangement Syndrome has run its course, and America is on the road to a speedy recovery in time for Thanksgiving dinner.
Democrats and the political press have only come more unhinged as President-elect Donald Trump has gotten closer to returning to the White House. They compare him to Hitler and accuse his supporters of being racist and “semi-fascist” — whatever that means.
American voters had other plans, resulting in Mr. Trump’s convincing rout in the election earlier this month. Mr. Trump made a clean sweep of the Upper Midwest swing states and moved even the bluest states, such as California, New York and Illinois, more than 10 points in his favor from 2020.
And new polling shows that voters are eager to move on from the election and embrace Mr. Trump’s commonsense approach to the issues most important to them.
A whopping 59% of Americans approve of how Mr. Trump is handling the transition from the Biden presidency to his historic second term, according to a new poll conducted by CBS News.
When was the last time 59% of Americans agreed on anything?
This number is especially impressive considering the universal freak-out in the press over some of Mr. Trump’s Cabinet picks.
But it goes deeper than Americans’ broad approval of Mr. Trump’s handling of the transition.
An equally staggering 55% of Americans say they are “satisfied” or “happy” that Mr. Trump won the election. That’s pretty unheard of in these partisan times, especially if you listen to the political media.
For years, we have waited for the final collapse of media credibility, something we have seen coming for a decade or more. Many of us were surprised in 2020 by the ability of the thoroughly discredited media to sow fear and discord over COVID-19 and successfully — and dishonestly — manage to blame it all on then-President Trump.
The biggest loser in the 2024 election was not President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris or even Democrats. It was the American political media.
Finally exposed, they are powerless, discredited weaklings.
The Trump Derangement Syndrome fever has finally broken. And Mr. Trump has finally broken the American political media.
This new CBS poll reveals just how much credibility has been lost.
After the election in 2016, when the press was breathlessly smearing Mr. Trump, a full 53% of Americans said they were “scared” or “concerned” about the upcoming Trump presidency, compared with 46% who said they were “excited” or “optimistic.”
After this latest election, as the press continues to breathlessly smear him, those numbers are exactly reversed. Fifty-three percent of Americans say they are excited or optimistic, while only 46% buy into the media lies to be scared or concerned.
As the veil of lies falls quietly to the floor, Democrats and their henchmen are beating a hasty retreat.
On Monday, crazed prosecutor Jack Smith filed a request to dismiss all charges against Mr. Trump in his yearslong political crusade to throw the former president in jail that included raiding Mr. Trump’s residence in Florida.
Perhaps the best news for Mr. Trump is not these latest poll numbers or the retreat of his political enemies. It is that American voters are clearly open-minded about Mr. Trump and the promises of his second term. If he makes good on enacting his commonsense solutions, he will be rewarded like no politician in America since Ronald Reagan.
