Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk came out in support of former Rep. Matt Gaetz for attorney general, saying he will be a “Hammer of Justice.”
“Matt Gaetz has 3 critical assets that are needed for the AG role: a big brain, a spine of steel and an axe to grind,” Mr. Musk posted Tuesday on X. “He is the Judge Dredd America needs to clean up a corrupt system and put powerful bad actors in prison. Gaetz will be our Hammer of Justice.”
Mr. Musk, a key Trump ally for the past several months, was chosen by President-elect Donald Trump to head the Department of Government Efficiency with businessman and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
Mr. Gaetz was chosen by Mr. Trump to head the Department of Justice as attorney general — a decision that has generated cheers from conservatives and turned heads of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. He resigned from Congress shortly after the nomination announcement.
The former Florida congressman faced an investigation by the Justice Department for alleged sex trafficking but came out of it with no charges. The House Ethics Committee has been investigating him for years, looking into whether he has engaged in sexual misconduct, accepted improper gifts, dispensed special privileges or engaged in illicit drug use.
He has denied all allegations, and now there has been discussion on whether the committee’s report should come out even though he’s no longer a member of Congress.
Mr. Musk said in the X post that he considers the allegations against Mr. Gaetz “worth less than nothing.”
“Under our laws, a man is considered innocent until proven guilty,” the billionaire wrote. “If AG [Merrick] Garland (an unprincipled douchebag) could have secured a conviction against Gaetz, he would have, but he knew he could not. Case Closed.”
