OPINION:
Credit is due to both President Biden and President-elect Donald Trump for their joint appearance at the White House on Wednesday (“Trump, Biden vow smooth transition in post-election Oval Office meeting,” web, Nov. 13).
The scene was devoid of animosity and the familiar Trump taunt of “crooked Joe Biden.”
Although it must have been extremely difficult for Mr. Biden to welcome his ardent foe, Mr. Trump deserves praise as well because he could have kept the battle going by refusing to participate. He not only participated, but he addressed the promise of the day and noted that campaigns and campaign rhetoric are rough.
If only the cooperation and peace that the world saw between these two men could continue.
