A Los Angeles Dodgers fan severely injured his hands after he lit a firework while celebrating the team’s World Series victory over the New York Yankees.

Video of the incident, which spread on social media, shows the man leaning over in a crosswalk and the explosive going off in his hand. The man then stumbles back in shock while bleeding, particularly from his left hand.

Another angle of the incident shows the man holding the explosive while lighting it.

A Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson told TMZ Sports that first responders arrived to help the 25-year-old at about 2:30 a.m., and that he was hospitalized with tourniquets on both of his arms and “bilateral hand wounds.”
The injuries were not life-threatening, the fire department told TMZ Sports.

Fireworks put thousands of Americans in the hospital each year, causing 9,700 injuries and eight deaths in 2023, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Elsewhere in Los Angeles after the Dodgers’ comeback win on Wednesday night, rowdy crowds torched a bus, threw bottles and projectiles at police and looted stores.

At least 12 people were arrested in connection with looting, vandalism and a DUI crash.

The Dodgers’ victory parade, the first to be held for the team since 1988 because of COVID-19 restrictions during their last title run in 2020, is being held Friday.
