NEW YORK — Sen. Rick Scott of Florida is attending former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial in Manhattan.

Mr. Scott, a Republican, entered the courtroom with Mr. Trump and his entourage and took a seat toward the front. He is one of the higher-profile guests to attend proceedings.

Mr. Trump’s son, Eric Trump, is a usual guest alongside key aides and Trump lawyer Alina Habba, who represented Mr. Trump in civil court.

Mr. Trump is on trial in New York, where he built his name and brand, but he moved to Florida during his presidency.

Mr. Scott is a Trump supporter and former governor of Florida, a vital prize in the Electoral College that used to be a swing state but has turned red of late.

Democrats hope to leverage abortion issues to take the state back in November, though it may be a long shot.
