A Republican lawmaker shared a video where he praised counterprotesters at the University of Mississippi who jeered a Black woman.

Two dozen pro-Palestinian protesters gathered on the Ole Miss campus Thursday, but were quickly outnumbered when hundreds came to demonstrate against them.

A video shared by Rep. Mike Collins, Georgia Republican, on X showed mostly White counterprotesters taunting the Black woman. They chanted “lock her up” and recited the national anthem while one young man made monkey noises.

Ole Miss taking care of business,” Mr. Collins said on X, extolling the students.

The congressman came under fire this year for sharing an antisemitic social media account’s post pointing out that a reporter was Jewish.

The lawmaker was also one of fewer than 100 members who voted against a bill this week that would have broadened the definition of antisemitism amid a wave of anti-Israel protests on college campuses.
