Former Trump White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, once a staunch opponent of early voting, now believes the GOP should use the voting method.
Ms. Conway expressed her new position Friday on “Real Time With Bill Maher,” saying, “I don’t like early voting, but if this is the new normal, you adapt or you die politically.”
Her switch comes as former President Donald Trump warms to early voting, despite spending years claiming mail-in voting was a key reason he lost what he calls a rigged election in 2020.
Ms. Conway said early voting is still “taking a chance” but hopes more voters, particularly older people, take advantage of the method to get their ballots out.
“I hope President Trump and Mrs. Trump will go and vote early in Florida, on the first day they’re eligible to vote early,” Ms. Conway said. “Because when the lion roars, the others will follow. His voters will say, ‘Oh, well, now President Trump went early, I can too.’”
