Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis attacked House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan as his investigation into her alleged misuse of federal funds continues.

“Jim Jordan has, time after time after time, attacked my office with no legitimate purpose,” Ms. Willis told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Monday. “Anyone who knows Jim Jordan’s history knows that he only has the purpose of trying to interfere in a criminal investigation.”

Ms. Willis, the lead in the Georgia 2020 election interference case against former President Donald Trump and his 18 co-defendants, has been under fire the past few months over her romantic relationship and travel/spending spree with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

The issue almost got her removed from the case, but Mr. Wade stepped down in March instead.

Also that month, Mr. Jordan, Ohio Republican, threatened to hold Ms. Willis in contempt of Congress if she didn’t comply with a subpoena to look into her office’s use of federal grant funds.

“All while his jurisdiction has one of the worst crime rates, has poverty issues and not one time has he used his position to try to investigate people who are attacking me and attacking others legitimately doing their jobs,” she said. “Making him illegitimate in his position, and it’s disgusting. So I bring that up at the federal level because now at the state level, they have decided to follow this clown’s lead. And they want to now try to interfere in an investigation, and it’s not legitimate either.”

Ms. Willis is up for reelection Tuesday in the Georgia Democratic primary.

The district attorney was aiming for an August 2024 start for the trial, but after her issues with Mr. Wade, that date seems unlikely.
