The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration closed its probe into Tesla’s Model X on Monday after the company issued a recall fixing a seat belt issue.
The agency opened the investigation into the electric car in March 2023 after it received two complaints concerning seat belt failure. Tesla said it also received several warranty claims related to the issue.
According to the NHTSA, Tesla issued a recall last July covering over 15,000 Model X and S vehicles. Tesla service workers were dispatched to replace or repair affected seat belts.
While the NHTSA officially closed the investigation, it said it would take additional action if necessary.
The probe’s closure is the second of its kind in as many months. In late April, the NHTSA announced it was closing its three-year investigation into Tesla’s autopilot program after finding that the driver assistance software didn’t do enough to keep driver attention on the road.
