Former President Donald Trump’s longtime senior adviser, Brian Jack, has officially become a Republican candidate in Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District.
Mr. Jack filed his candidacy Thursday just hours after Mr. Trump publicly said he would endorse him if he decided to run. The seat is currently held by Republican Rep. Drew Ferguson, who said in December he wouldn’t be running for another term.
Mr. Ferguson has represented the district, which leans strongly Republican, since 2017.
“Brian has been thinking about running to succeed Drew, as he has always sought to accomplish incredible things for Georgia and our country. I encourage Brian, a Fayette County native, to go for it, pursue his dream, and run for Congress,” Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social Thursday.
“He represents a New Generation of Leadership, and he will be a GREAT Congressman, working closely with me and other Republicans to fix the damage Joe Biden has done to our Country,” he said.
Mr. Jack, 36, worked with the Trump campaign in 2016 and served as his White House political director.
Mr. Trump called Mr. Jack “a man of loyalty, honesty and integrity [who] will never let the fabulous people of Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District down.”
“Should he decide to run, Brian Jack has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” he said.
Alex Latcham, a top Trump campaign political adviser, will take over Mr. Jack’s role, a person familiar with the decision told Politico. Mr. Jacke will still act as an adviser to the campaign and help Mr. Trump in Georgia.
