Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene confronted President Biden about illegal immigration as he walked down the aisle of the House chamber to deliver his State of the Union address.
The Georgia Republican called out the name of Laken Riley, the 22-year-old University of Georgia nursing student who authorities said was killed by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela who was paroled under Mr. Biden’s lax border policies.
“Laken Riley. Say her name,” Ms. Greene shouted at Mr. Biden.
Ms. Greene wore a Make America Great Again hat and a shirt with Laken Riley’s name on it underneath a blazer.
The president ignored her and moved down the aisle, shaking hands and taking selfies with lawmakers.
Ms. Greene defied a plea from House Speaker Mike Johnson, Louisiana Republican, who called for GOP lawmakers to refrain from heckling the president.
Seats were left empty in the viewing gallery for Ms. Riley’s parents, who declined an invitation by Rep. Mike Collins, Georgia Republican, to attend the event.
