The Supreme Court has scheduled oral arguments for April 25 on the landmark case of whether former President Donald Trump is immune from being prosecuted for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
The high court agreed last week to hear the former president’s claim. The court originally said it would hear arguments for the case the week of April 22, but had not specified which day.
Special counsel Jack Smith, who brought the case against Mr. Trump, has asked the court to be speedy in its proceedings over Mr. Trump’s immunity claim so that he can bring the case to trial. The trial was originally scheduled for March, but has been postponed.
Many Congressional Democrats are hoping this case goes quickly since it could determine whether Mr. Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, faces trial before November over his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
