President Biden said Wednesday that there is a place for supporters of Nikki Haley to join his campaign after the former South Carolina governor ended her run for the GOP presidential nomination Wednesday.

“It takes a lot of courage to run for president — that’s especially true in today’s Republican Party, where so few dare to speak the truth about Donald Trump,” Mr. Biden said in a statement. “Nikki Haley was willing to speak the truth about Trump: about the chaos that always follows him, about his inability to see right from wrong, about his cowering before [Russian President] Vladimir Putin.”

He said that Mr. Trump, who is poised to capture the GOP nomination, has “made it clear” that he wouldn’t want supporters of Ms. Haley.

“I want to be clear: There is a place for them in my campaign,” Mr. Biden said.

Mr. Biden said Haley supporters may disagree with parts of his campaign, but overall they would agree on the “fundamental issues” like preserving democracy and supporting NATO.

“We all know this is no ordinary election. And the stakes for America couldn’t be higher,” the president said. “I know that Democrats and Republicans and independents disagree on many issues and hold strong convictions. That’s a good thing. That’s what America stands for. But I also know this: What unites Democrats and Republicans and independents is a love for America.”

Ms. Haley ended her campaign Wednesday after winning only one Super Tuesday primary state. It was only her second victory in the GOP race, after winning in the District of Columbia’s primary.

She did not endorse Mr. Trump on Wednesday, but wished him well.

“It is now up to Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party and beyond it who did not support him,” Ms. Haley said. “And I hope he does that.”

Mr. Trump slammed her on Truth Social after her speech, criticizing her for receiving money and votes from “Radical Left Democrats.”

The former president did, however, call on her supporters to now join “the greatest movement in the history of our Nation!”
