Most of Meta’s flagship platforms bounced back after going dark Tuesday.

According to Down Detector, which tracks website blackouts, Meta’s Facebook, Instagram and Messenger platforms reported interruptions.

Facebook and Messenger users opened their apps Tuesday to find they were logged out. Instagram users couldn’t refresh their feeds or search for posts.

Meta’s new X competitor Threads was also inaccessible, with the app not loading any posts or feeds.

However, Meta’s popular messenger application WhatsApp seemed to be working.

The apps returned to normal service at noon, but not before fears of a cyberattack spread on rival social media platforms such as X.

Meta spokesman Andy Stone confirmed the social media giant was working on resolving the issue, but the company has yet to say what exactly caused the outage.
