The United Nations is full of fools. The members of the United Nations Security Council voted 14-0 in favor of a resolution demanding a cease-fire in Gaza for the remainder of Ramadan.
Israeli negotiators lost valuable leverage in their negotiations to get the 130 hostages released by Hamas. The team, headed by Mossad chief David Barnea, offered a six-week cease-fire and the release of as many as 800 terrorists in exchange for 40 hostages who are female, children, injured, or older than 60.
They also offered to withdraw from two main roads in Gaza, as well as allowing people to return north and for humanitarian aid to enter the area. Unfortunately, the passage of the U.N. resolution clearly empowered Hamas. They continue to seek to build international pressure against Israel without a commitment to release all of the hostages.
The betrayal of Israel by the Biden administration is breathtaking. They could have vetoed the resolution instead of abstaining from the vote. It is increasingly clear that President Biden and his cronies are more interested in pandering to pro-Hamas voters in places like Michigan than in standing with our greatest ally in the Middle East and the only democracy in the region: Israel.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer showed he is no friend of Israel either with a speech on the floor of the Senate undermining the leadership of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. What a political sellout.
Imagine if, months after the terrorist attacks against America on Sept. 11, 2001, British Prime Minister Tony Blair suggested that we choose new leadership instead of President George W. Bush. What kind of a message would that have sent the rest of the world? Thankfully, Mr. Blair and other world leaders stood with the United States against the terrorists. Americans and the rest of the world must stand with the State of Israel against these forces of evil once again.
The easiest way to a ceasefire is for Hamas to release the hostages. Israel’s battle is with the terrorists who killed 1,200 innocent individuals on October 7, 2023. In their efforts to counter the attacks of the terrorists, the members of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have taken remarkable measures to try and avoid harm to civilians during the operation.
Tragically, the terrorists of Hamas use civilians as human shields against the IDF. Numerous reports reveal the placement of weapons in and around hospitals, schools, and other non-military structures. Other reports show Hamas terrorists preventing civilians from leaving parts of Gaza.
On top of that, Hamas refuses to offer the release of all 130 hostages. They refuse to acknowledge their crimes against innocent people.
Leaders in the State of Israel must answer to their people. They live in a true democracy. The terrorists of Hamas answer to only themselves. They are funded and supported by the largest state sponsor of terrorism: Iran.
Ironically, the leaders of the United Nations want to hold Russia accountable for its illegal, immoral, and unjustified aggression against the people of Ukraine. Still, they did not seek to do the same to Hamas when their actions were even more inhuman. The General Assembly passed a resolution condemning Russia and called for their withdrawal from Ukraine. Iran was among the few countries that joined Russia in opposition to the resolution.
The U.N. should just be called U.L. because they are useless. Worse yet, they are dangerous as they give cover to the cold-blooded killers of Hamas. “From the River to the Sea” is not a political rally. It is a call for an end to Israel and the extermination of the Jewish people.
In a few weeks, Passover will be observed around the world. It is a celebration of the Israelites’ escape from slavery in Egypt, which took place after a plague struck down the firstborn in that region. In the Bible, we read that God commanded Moses to tell the Israelites to put the blood of a lamb above their doors so that the Angel of Death might pass over their homes.
Years before, the Pharaoh at the time of Moses’ birth gave an order: “Every Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live.” The mother of Moses hid his birth and eventually put him in a basket that was discovered along the river by the daughter of the Pharaoh, who raised him as her own.
After leaving Egypt, God told Joshua, “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.”
Even when political leaders fail, God looks out for the people of Israel. We would be wise to stand with them, too.
