Subaru issued a recall of over 118,000 sedans and SUVs in the U.S. over an issue that could stop airbags from deploying in a collision.
According to Friday’s recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Subaru discovered a sensor malfunction in the Occupant Detection System that could prevent some vehicles from spotting passengers and stop the airbag from deploying.
The recall affects Subaru Outback and Legacy vehicles from 2020-22.
Subaru has urged drivers to take their vehicles to a local dealer for a free repair.
Automakers Chrysler and Dodge issued similar recalls last week after discovering issues with passenger airbags not deploying.
