In a callback to his infamous biting of Evander Holyfield, boxer Mike Tyson is selling marijuana edibles in New York shaped like ears with a bite taken out of them.
Tyson’s company, Tyson 2.0, launched in 2021 and sells marijuana products and branded merchandise.
Starting Tuesday, Tyson’s ear-shaped Mike Bites went on sale at five dispensaries across the state — one each in Syracuse, Rensselaer, Farmingdale, Brooklyn and Manhattan, with expansion to other New York outlets coming soon, per a Tyson 2.0 release.
“Growing up in Brooklyn, I could have never imagined a time when cannabis would be legally utilized to enhance both mental and physical well-being. Yet, here we are, witnessing the incredible progress,” Tyson said in a statement.
Tyson says his cannabis products are sold at nine stores in Thailand, a store each in France and the Netherlands, as well as at outlets in California, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Michigan, New Hampshire, Maine and now New York.
The Mike Bites play on his June 28, 1997, heavyweight title bout against Holyfield, the second meetup between the pair.
After Tyson took a bite out of Holyfield’s right ear in the third round, he was docked two points as the fight was delayed.
“He bit a hunk out of his ear and spit it on the floor,” one of the judges ringside in Las Vegas said after the fight.
After the round resumed, Tyson went for a bite on Holyfield’s left ear, and was disqualified and stripped of his boxing license, which was later reinstated.
Tyson, 57, will be back in the ring for a live fight streamed on Netflix against YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul on July 20.
