The NFL is collaborating with Netflix on a documentary series that highlights top pass catchers from the 2023 season. The show, “Receiver,” comes after the popular “Quarterback” series the streamer released last year.
The program zeroes in Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders, Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, George Kittle and Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions.
The new series is produced by NFL Films, 2PM Productions and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions.
“The natural progression is from a pass to a catch, so we’re excited to dive into the ‘Receiver’ world after the success of our ‘Quarterback’ series,” Gabe Spitzer, Netflix’s vice president of nonfiction sports, said in a news release. “NFL Films, Omaha Productions and 2PM Productions have delivered again in finding unique and dynamic athletes who will further highlight the drama of this sport on and off the field.”
The NFL said the eight-episode series will premiere this summer.
“As we did with ’Quarterback,’ we look forward to telling the stories of five incredible receivers, each with their unique personality, skill set and motivation for what drives them to be the best,” Manning said.
“Receiver” is Netflix’s latest foray into athletic content. The streamer documented sports figures and teams in releases such as “Formula 1: Drive to Survive,” “Full Swing” and “Under Pressure: The U.S. Women’s World Cup Team.”
