Tesla’s CEO visited workers at the company’s Gigafactory near Berlin Wednesday, one week after the plant halted production following an arson attack by radical environmentalists.
Elon Musk greeted the press and workers at the factory in Gruenheide, Germany, Wednesday. According to company officials, Mr. Musk was expected to attend a team meeting with plant workers.
Power was restored to the massive Tesla plant Monday after arsonists burned a nearby electric pylon March 5. According to Tesla, all the machinery in the factory has been restarted and primed for production.
Tesla says the unexpected work stoppage likely cost the company millions in damages.
Mr. Musk’s visit comes as tensions remain high in the Berlin area. His electric vehicle company wants to clear part of a neighboring forest to expand the factory, something environmentalists take issue with. Protesters have been camping in the targeted forest for weeks, though they have denied being involved in the arson attack.
The pressure hasn’t deterred Mr. Musk, who called the arsonists the “dumbest eco-terrorists on Earth.”
