The House passed a resolution condemning President Biden’s immigration policies Tuesday — with the assistance of 14 Democrats.

Mr. Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas are denounced for what the resolution calls a refusal to use executive powers to control the chaos on the border.

“The resolution underscores the urgent need for the Biden administration to take decisive action to address the crisis at our border,” Rep. Monica De La Cruz, Texas Republican and the resolution sponsor, said in a statement.

“We urge the administration to immediately begin utilizing the authorities available to them to regain control of the situation and protect the interests of the American people,” she added.

The nonbinding resolution passed on a 226-193 vote.

The Biden administration has blamed the two years of post-COVID chaos at the border on Congress not passing earlier this year a bill with border-security provisions.

Republicans blame the crisis on Mr. Biden’s near-immediate revocation of dozens of border-security policies from the previous administration and say the bill gave the Biden administration too much leeway on border enforcement.

Also Tuesday, according to Newsmax, Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas launched an advisory group called the Democrats for Border Security Task Force.

“It’s important for Democrats to talk about strong border security and still be respectful of immigrants’ rights,” he told reporters Tuesday.

Mr. Cuellar was one of the 14 Democrats who voted to condemn the Biden administration in Tuesday’s statement.

It marked the second such House resolution this year. On Jan. 17, the House denounced “the Biden administration’s open-borders policies” by a 225-187 vote, also with the aid of 14 Democrats, though not all the same ones as Tuesday.

Besides Mr. Cuellar, the 14 Democrats who voted in favor of Tuesday’s resolution included Reps. Yadira Caraveo of Colorado, Angie Craig of Minnesota, Sharice Davids of Kansas, Don Davis of North Carolina, Jared Golden of Maine, and Steven Horsford and Susie Lee of Nevada.

Also voting to condemn the Biden administration’s policies were Democratic Reps. Greg Landsman of Ohio, Jared Moskowitz of Florida, Frank Mrvan of Indiana, Mary Peltola of Alaska, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington, and Eric Sorensen of Illinois.
