The Oscars found a way Sunday night to be about former President Donald Trump.

Before the last award of the night, host Jimmy Kimmel said the show was running early and so he had time to read a “review” of his work.

“Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars,” Mr. Kimmel read from the “review.”

“His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be. Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC ’talent,’ George Slopanopoulos. He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous. Blah, blah, blah. Make America Great Again!” Mr. Kimmel said.

Mr. Kimmel then sarcastically asked the audience if they could guess “what former president just posted that on Truth Social.”

Taking Mr. Trump’s bait, the former “Man Show” host “thanked” the former president for watching the show, and then he brought down the house.

“I’m surprised you’re still watching. Isn’t it past your jail time,” he said to a mass of laughter.

Prior to that moment in the show, there hadn’t been no mention of the man Hollywood loves to hate and little politicking of any sort. The one significant foray into politics came from director Jonathan Glazer.

Upon accepting the award for Best International Film for the Holocaust drama “The Zone of Interest,” Mr. Glazer said he repudiates his Jewishness being hijacked by “an occupation” that he blamed for both the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks and the Israeli response.
